SPEAKERS
Gordon Beattie
Director of National Procurement
Gordon joined NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) in December 2019 from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, where since January 2001, he has held various senior procurement roles. During this initial period in his new role, Gordon has led the national procurement response to the COVID-19 emergency and is now focusing attention on shaping National Procurement to be well placed to meet the challenges of the future.
Gordon started in procurement in 1986 as a graduate trainee in food manufacturing then spent 10 years in the power industry before moving to the NHS.
With a grown-up family, his cocker spaniels ensure he and his wife continue to enjoy an active outdoor life in his spare time. This includes both caravanning and sailing with his family and friends.
Jonathan Cameron
Head of Digital Health and Care
Jonathan is the Deputy Director for Digital Health and Care in Scottish Government, overseeing the Digital Health and Care Strategy for Scotland, and is currently leading the delivery of the Digital Front Door programme and the MyCare.scot app. During the Covid pandemic, Jonathan led the digital response including the delivery of the Covid Vaccination System and Protect Scotland app.
Prior to his current role, Jonathan has held a number of data and IT programme posts in the public and private sector, and has a strong track record on complex IT and data system delivery. His career in eHealth and IT includes the delivery of the Emergency Care Summary and Key Information Summary systems which were major achievements in improving patient care across Scotland.
Gillian Cameron
Programme Manager
Gillian Cameron is the Programme Manager for the Supplier Development Programme (SDP), a business support initiative, supported by Scottish Government, Scottish Local Authorities and Agencies. The Programme’s aim is to help Scottish SMEs improve their performance in winning contracts in the public sector. Gillian has over 25 years’ experience in public sector procurement, previously working on many high-profile supplier engagement projects with the Ministry of Defence, the NHS and London 2012 Olympic games. She is a member of the Scottish Government’s Procurement Supplier Group, which aims to inform, influence, and engage with procurement strategy and derive the maximum economic benefit from public sector purchasing.
Under her management, SDP has continued to grow substantially, with all 32 Scottish Local Authorities, several government bodies and larger contractors taking up membership ensuring that it is a Scotland wide initiative. More than 18,000 businesses having access to the Programme’s free tender training services.
Specialising in connecting the public and private sector, Gillian’s work with the SDP has seen the reach of the Programme grow through bespoke supplier engagement; raising awareness of contract opportunities and connecting training as an early intervention to assist Scottish SME’s get tender ready, driving economic recovery and supporting the public sector and most recently the NHS with Community Wealth Building initiatives.
Chris Sanderson
Head of Procurement
Chris Sanderson is Head of Procurement at NHSGGC. His previous roles includes General Manager Procurement - NHS Lanarkshire, Head of Procurement - NHS Lanarkshire and Programme Manager: Commercial & Performance Services for NHS National Services Scotland. Prior to joining NHS Chris spent eight years at Royal Mail.
Alan Morrison
Deputy Director of Health Infrastructure and Sustainability
Alan is CIPFA qualified accountant and has spent the bulk of his professional career working in health finance at the Scottish Government. He is currently Deputy Director of Health Infrastructure and Sustainability and has policy responsibility for capital investment, health facilities and delivery of the Net Zero and sustainability agenda across NHS Scotland.
